Mission
seA supports employment and economic growth through commercialization of research results, strengthened community infrastructure and enhancements to science education.
Objectives
- Facilitate the application of scientific discovery to the private sector;
- Facilitate integration, capacity building and co-location of science-based organizations;
- Become a community champion for science opportunities in economic development;
- Facilitate business connections and access to research facilities.

IION Relationship
seA spearheads bioproduct development in Northern Ontario on behalf of Innovation Initiative Ontario North (IION), formerly known as the Northern Ontario Commercialization Initiative (NOCI).
IION is one of 11 Regional Innovation Networks (RINs) in Ontario funded by the Ministry of Research and Innovation. RINs are focused on the commercialization of priority areas identified by a particular region. IION concentrates its efforts towards the Bioproduct, Mining and Medical sectors.
